INDIAN PIPES

After a heavy, soaking rain, clustered together in the pale shadows & shade
of the midsummer woods,
Grows the mystifying wildflower Indian Pipe
The shape of the plant resembles a clay pipe whose stem
has been stuck in the earth.
Coined to be the weirdest flower, it shares many folk names such as
Ghost Flower, Ice Plant, Dutchman’s pipe, or
Fairy-Smoke.
Perhaps one can easily imagine gnome-like creatures
Smoking pale pipes such as these.
Scientists call it: Monotropa unifolora

Open Edition Print: SOLD 1 - 16x20 / 4 -11x14 & numerous hand crafted greeting
